Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Dr. Tong relocated to the US and grew up in California. Dr. Tong enrolled in the accelerated combined BA/MD Program at Boston University. She served her internship, residency and Chief residency at New England Medical Center in Boston, followed by fellowship in cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School. She concluded her training with an additional fellowship and obtained level III echocardiography training at Methodist Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Tong is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with a specialty certificate in Cardiovascular Disease. Additionally she is certified in Echocardiography, Nuclear Medicine, and coronary CT Angiogram. Dr. Tong holds current medical licenses in both Nevada and Florida.

Prior to relocating to Gainesville, Dr. Tong held faculty appointments at The University of Texas, Baylor College of Medicine, and Tufts University School of Medicine. Working in the private sector, Dr. Tong was a member of Southwest Medical Associates in Las Vegas, Nevada for four years. She joined Cardiology Associates of Gainesville in 2009.

Dr. Tong’s areas of interest include congestive heart failure, heart disease in women, heart disease/cardiomyopathy in cancer patients, and echocardiography. Dr. Tong works with CAG part-time and spends her spare time with her family and learning more about north central Florida.
